in addition to rendering one unconcious within minutes, i have also found ambien to be an amazing "trip aborter". this has been tested upon myself and close friends. when chewed, a 10mg tablet can successfully end an LSD, psylocybin, or MDMA trip. of course, you fall asleep relatively quickly, which is good and bad. good in that if you were tripping and absolutely needed to sleep, you could. bad in that once you take ambien, you really can't do anything else but lay down. please note, my experiences with this drug should be in no way interpreted as safe and responsible use. in other words, don't go mixing prescription meds with illegal drugs. there's really no telling what could happen, especially when ambien-stupor sets in. be safe.
