To
love and to die are the same in a way
They are both often feared and both respected
Vainly avoided and vainly rejected
Love is the expression of an expectation
To give it is spreading a warmth and a light
To feel it is to know that hoping is right
In contrast, a death is no expression at all
Be the death a victory or a surrender
It is a raindrop landing on a
candle ember
Yet all the ones with the soundest of souls
Meet
death smiling like and old friend come over
And embrace it tenderly like a dearly-missed
lover
