The phrase "Strength and Honor" is a phrase that was extremely popularised in the film "
Gladiator" starring
Russell Crowe. It is the motto, or
oath, of both Emperor Cæsar
Marcus Aurelius (
A.D 161 - 180) and the
Roman Army. It is used almost as a battlecry (but not as much as
Victor Roma) throughout and in the opening scene of the film, the Roman attack on
Germania. Accoring to Discovery Channel it has similarities with "
Semper Fi" (
U.S. Marine Corps), or vice versa. All this from
Discovery Channel. Oh my.
