Stoney Point is a
sandstone crag in the northwest corner of the
San Fernando Valley in
Los Angeles. It is a popular place to
climb -- both
bouldering and
top roping. Over the years, it has served as a
training ground for some of the best-known people in
rock climbing history:
Glen Dawson,
Royal Robbins,
John Long,
Yvon Chouinard.
Stoney Point was purchased by the City of Los Angeles
in 1996 for four million dollars. As a city park, it is open from sunrise to sunset.
