House in the hamlet of
Boleskine, one mile south of
Inverfarigaig on the eastern shore of
Loch Ness. It lies directly above a cemetery, burial place of the
Fraser Clan.
From 1900 to 1918 Boleskine House was the home of
Aleister Crowley, the self-styled "Great Beast" of
black magic. Crowley bought the house in order to start the work called
"The Abramelin Working" in which the magician purport to create a Knowledge and Conversation with the
Higher Self, or the
Holy Guardian Angel.
In 1973 an act of
exorcism was performed in order to rid the house of
evil spirits. Since then it has had several owners, including
Jimmy Page of
Led Zeppelin, whose daughter tragically died at the house.
A later owner shot himself.
