French general and nobleman. Born 1774, died 1833.
A participant in Napoleon's Campaign in Egypt (1798), Savary later became Bonaparte's adjutant (1800).
Savary served with distinction as a general in the campaigns against Prussia and Russia (1806-1807). Leter, he was a diplomat, and he became minister of police in 1810. After the Hundred Days (1815), he was sentenced to death, but escaped. After a few years in exile, he returned to France in 1819, to serve again as general, this time in France's war of conquest in Algeria.
