A writer turned director and sometimes producer who has released a great number of movies. Some of the more popular ones are Platoon(1986), JFK(1991), and the incredibly controversial and ultra-ultra-violent Natural Born Killers(1994).

This last wound up getting Stone, the movie's producer, the studio, and so forth sued because some punk kids killed some people after evidently being inspired by the movie. The case against Stone was championed by, of all people, John Grisham. A friend of his was one of the people killed. Grisham wrote an article that suggested that the creators of movies, books, and other forms of entertainment should be held accountable for possible repercussions from their works. Stone, who I believe is a much better writer than Grisham, replied by writing a fairly eloquent refutation.
