Information is fractal. Is there such a thing as a unit of information? Can there be such a thing?

Take, for example, a dictionary. Is it a source of information? Only if you can understand what the entries for the words are. What are the entries for words? More words. It's a loop, and it's cross-referenced at every level. Same with an encyclopedia, same with E2. Information, indeed, is fractal (at least to some degree).
