A
fencing maneuver that involves the full
extension of the
weapon, followed by no
movement. Essentially, a
Point-in-Line is a
defensive maneuver which if executed prior to the start of your opponent's
action claims the
attack. A Point-in-Line is always first in any question of
right of way, and if your opponent wishes to attack, he/she must either wait for the
Point to be removed, or remove it - typically through
Battement.
The idea behind Point-in-Line's offensive supremacy, is that no one would charge onto an extended blade without doing something about it first - to do so would be suicide.
