They who do not feast here anymore
have cast their empty
shells to the
tide.
Waxing and
waning, filled by the cries
of sea birds they sink.
There dwells the wooden
maid.
Salt has eaten her
painted face;
her flesh laid bare, she smiles still.
Their
souls shall find no

waves.
