The
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference,
RMAC, is an
NCAA Division II conference. Originally formed as the
Colorado Faculty Athletic Conference in
1909 and comprised of all schools from
Colorado. The next year, 1910, it changed names to the
Rocky Mountain Faculty Athletic Conference,
RMFAC. Finally in
1967 it changed names to the name currently used. The conference has undergone many changes in membership over the years until the reorganization that occured in
1967 that prompted the name change. Part of this reorganization included a change of management previously it was ran by the
faculty of the members institutions now the presidents of the schools assumed control.
