Pomaire is a small town in Chile, located in the Santiago metropolitan region, close to the exurb of Melipilla. Pomaire is most famous for its pottery, as the clay outside the city has always been ideal for making both utilitarian and decorative pottery objects. Today, it is a popular site for daytripping tourists from Santiago, since it lies only 50 linear kilometers from the center of town. Along with the pottery, it is also famous for its one-kilogram empanadas.

Like a lot of tourist towns, there isn't a whole lot to see after you have seen the main strip. The town consists of two or three main roads, densely packed with craft stores and shoppers, as well as restaurants. And as in many other tourist towns, the good stuff is interspersed with...less good stuff. While I can believe the chancitos are an an ancient form of folk art, the Avengers bobbleheads are not.
