Pokhran is the site where India has performed both its series of (known) nuclear tests. The first tests, referred to by analysts as 'Pokhran,' were in 1976. The second series took place in 1998 and are referred to as 'Pokhran-II.' Pokhran lies in the Rajasthan region of India.
