Duo of Christopher Reid(
Kid) and Christopher Martin(
Play). They emerged from
New York in 1988 with their album 2
Hype. They reached a high point with the song Rollin with Kid 'N Play. Both of the
acted in three
House Party movies along with Class Act. Their
music was clean,
happy raps mixed with
disco and
dance samples. Also known for their videos and
ability to
dance. They performed the Kid 'N Play kickstep which resembled the
charleston.
Unfortunately, they released their music in the upswing of gangsta rap. They didn't have the impact of say, NWA's Straight Outta Compton. They released albums Funhouse and Face the Nation also. I don't know where they are now, they seemed a lot cooler in the 8th grade.
