En attendant Godot is the
original French title of
Waiting for Godot.
Samuel Beckett wrote the play - in French - in
1952 and it was first performed in
Paris 1953. Following the
success in Paris, Beckett himself translated it into
English in
1954.
Estragon : Allons-nous-en.
Vladimir : On ne peut pas.
Estragon : Pourquoi ?
Vladimir : On attend Godot.
Estragon : C'est vrai.
( Let's go.
We can't.
Why not?
BECAUSE... we're waiting for Godot!
Oh! )
"Je ne sais pas qui est Godot. je ne sais même pas, surtout pas, s'il existe." -- Samuel Beckett
