Peter Straub was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on March 2nd in 1943. His father, a salesman, wanted Straub to become an athlete (Straub is a big, jovial, powerful-looking man) and his mother, a nurse, wanted him to become either a Lutheran minister or a physician.
Instead, Straub became one of the best-selling horror writers alive today. He has authored sixteen novels and three short fiction collections that have been translated into over twenty languages. His best-known book is The Talisman, which he co-authored with Stephen King.
Straub's work has won many accolades, including two World Fantasy Awards, two Bram Stoker Awards, and the British Fantasy Award.
Straub currently lives somewhere in New York City.
