A guitar playing technique in which one uses the chord hand to strike down a fret sharply to produce a sound similar to that of picking the chord struck. Normally one frets the string then plucks it; with this technique someone can play several notes on the same string quickly in sequence. Related to the pull-off.
This is a technique used to play the guitar. To perform a hammer on, strike a string with your finger on the fret so that it rings out without being plucked or picked. This is usually (but not always) performed during a solo.
