in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Blake Edwards
was a prolific film director, writer, and producer.
The 1958-1961 TV series Peter Gunn is responsible
for his initial fame, although his most famous works
are the series of Pink Panther movies. Other
directing credits include
Breakfast at Tiffany's, Days of Wine and Roses
and Victor/Victoria.
Withnail adds that Blake Edwards is also
responsible for the movie
10 and was married to Julie Andrews.
In 2004 Edwards was awarded an honorary Oscar for
"extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement." He died on December 16, 2010.
