#C2 St. Louis Blues vs. #C3 Chicago Blackhawks

It's one of NHL's oldest and most storied rivalries, so playoffs between these two squads are always exciting. This time Chicago is the defending Stanley Cup champs and St. Louis is trying to get out of their first-round-exit funk.

GAME ONE: CHICAGO 0 at ST. LOUIS 1 (OT) - April 13
The first three periods of the series went scoreless, St. Louis' Brian Elliott being the brick wall that he can be, making 35 saves for the first playoff shutout for the Blues since 2002, which was also against the Blackhawks. Blues captain David Backes scored 9:04 into the extra session to give his team the 1-0 game win and series lead.

GAME TWO: CHICAGO 3 at ST. LOUIS 2 - April 15
It was Blues VS Blackhawks AND the refs in this tilt, as it seemed like the officials did everything they could to make sure that Chicago evened up the series, which they did. Blues star Vladimir Tarasenko had his second goal disallowed because of an off-sides review (multiple angles were reviewed and ALL were inconclusive at best). Duncan Keith, Andrew Shaw, and Artemi Panarin scored for Chicago. St. Louis got its second official goal of the game from Kevin Shattenkirk with only one second left at the final buzzer.

GAME THREE: ST. LOUIS 3 at CHICAGO 2 - April 17

Hossa, Anismov, and Panarin put Chicago up 3-1 in the second, but the Blues roared bacon in the third with tallies from Robby Fabbri and captain David Backes, but they couldn't get it done in double overtime. as Patrick Kane got the winner for Chicago.

GAME SIX: ST. LOUIS 3 at CHICAGO 6 - April 23
The Blues blew a 3-1 lead, and then the wheels came off, as the 'Hawks avoided elimination again.

GAME SEVEN: CHICAGO 2 at ST. LOUIS 3 - April 25
Troy Brouwer, who's more known for hitting than scoring, got the crazy game-winning and series-winning goal (the third swipe was the charm) in the third as St. Louis FINALLY got that first-round exit monkey off their backs.

Blues win series 4 games to 3.

#P1 Anaheim Ducks vs. #WC1 Nashville Predators

The Ducks had the better season, but the Predators got the better of the Ducks in that season, winning 2 of the 3 games and outscoring Anaheim 10-7.

GAME THREE: ANAHEIM 3 at NASHVILLE 0 - April 19
The Ducks get one game back by blanking the Preds, with Anaheim goalie Frederik Andersen making 27 saves.

GAME FOUR: ANAHEIM 4 at NASHVILLE 1 - April 21
The home teams just aren't doing well in this series. The Ducks even things up with goals from Getzlaf, Thompson, McGinn, and Cogliano. Mike Fisher scored for Nashville.

Round Two - Conference Semifinals

Western Conference

#C1 Dallas Stars vs. #C2 St. Louis Blues

Dallas may have had the better record than St. Louis in the regular season (barely) but only won one of the five games between the two teams. And the Blues got three of those four wins in overtime. Two of the West's best teams in 2016 face off in the second round!

GAME ONE: ST. LOUIS 1 at DALLAS 2 - April 29
Dallas' Antoine Roussel opened up the scoring in the game and the series in the second, while St. Louis tied it up in the third with Kevin Shattenkirk. But Radek Faksa got the game-winner for the Stars with only minutes to go in regulation.

GAME TWO: ST. LOUIS 4 at DALLAS - 3 (OT) May 1
The Stars again opened up the scoring with Alex Goligoski in the first, but the Blues responded with three goals (Patrik Berglund, Joel Edmundson, Troy Brouwer) before the period was out. Dallas answered back to tie it up in the third with goals from Mattias Janmark and Captain Jamie Benn. But it was the Blues' captain, David Backes, at 10:58 of overtime, who prevailed to even up the series.

GAME THREE: DALLAS 1 at ST. LOUIS 6 - May 3
The Stars struck first early on with Colton Sceviour, but the Blues answered back six times. Vladimir Tarasenko had a goal and two assists, and Alexander Steen and captain David Backes each scored two goals to romp Dallas for the Game Three victory. Blues' Troy Brouwer also had a goal and an assist and Brian Elliott made 25 saves.

GAME FOUR: DALLAS 3 at ST. LOUIS 2 (OT) - May 5
Just 2:48 into overtime Cody Eakin scores for Dallas to even up the series. Tarasenko had scored first for the Blues in the first but very quickly in the second Dallas both tied the game and took the lead with tallies from Radek Faksa and Patrick Sharp. Paul Stastny tied the game up later on a power play.

GAME FIVE: ST. LOUIS 4 at DALLAS 1 - May 7
Robby Fabbri and Paul Stastny each had a goal and an assist, Elliott made 27 saves, and the Blues dominated with a 4-1 win to take the 3-2 series lead. St. Louis' Troy Brouwer also scored. Dmitrij Jaskin scored his first-ever playoff goal, in his first-ever playoff game, and it was the game-winner! Alex Goligoski scored for Dallas.

GAME SIX: DALLAS 3 at ST. LOUIS 2 - May 9
A disaster of a first period was too much to overcome for the Blues, as Dallas went up 3-0. St. Louis tried to rally, though, scoring two in the second.

GAME SEVEN: ST. LOUIS 6 at DALLAS 1 - May 11
St. Louis dominated Dallas and are headed to the Conference Finals for the first time since 2001! Before the First was out, Robby Fabbri continued his record rookie playoff scoring, with Vladimir Tarasenko scoring a goal that was disallowed with yet another coach challenge, but no matter, for the Blues scored twice more before the Second with Paul Stastny and Patrik Berglund with seconds left in the period. David Backes and Troy Brouwer added two more tallies in the second. Dallas finally got on the board with Patrick Eaves in the third, but with their goalie pulled with several minutes left it wasn't difficult for Tarasenko to get one that counted into the empty net. Blues goalie Brian Elliott was fantastic again with 31 saves.

Blues win series 4 games to 3.

#P5 San Jose Sharks vs. #WC1 Nashville Predators

Round Two may be familiar territory for San Jose but Nashville is there for just the first time in four years. Would the wildcard Preds take a bigger bite than the Sharks?

GAME ONE: NASHVILLE 2 at SAN JOSE 5 - April 29
Except for Mike Fisher's Nashville tally in the second, all the goals were in the third, most of then San Jose's. Tomas Hertl, Joel Ward, Logan Couture (twice) and Tommy Wingels overwhelmed the Predators, who got a second goal from Ryan Johahsen.

GAME TWO: NASHVILLE 0 at SAN JOSE 2 - May 1
Joe Pavelski broke the tie with 2:40 remaining in third period to get San Jose the win and 2-0 series lead.

GAME THREE: SAN JOSE 1 at NASHVILLE 4 - May 3
The power play gets Nashville into the series, with extra-man goals by James Neal and Filip Forsberg. Shea Weber and Colin Wilson also scored for the Preds, while Patrick Marleau got the lone goal, the first goal of the game, for the Sharks.

GAME FOUR: SAN JOSE 3 at NASHVILLE 4 (3OT) - May 5
It took the longest game in the 2016 playoffs so far to end this tilt. Mike Fisher, for his second goal of the night, scored 11:12 into the third overtime to even up the series for the Predators. Colin Wilson and James Neal also scored for Nashville and San Jose scored with Brent Burns (twice) and Joonas Donskoi.

GAME SEVEN: NASHVILLE 0 at SAN JOSE 5 - May 12
Another Round Two Game Seven blowout: The Sharks preyed on the Predators with a shutout rout. It was the attack of the Joes and Joels. Joe Pavelski, Joe Thornton, and Joel Ward scored, along with Logan Couture and Patrick Marleau. Goalie Martin Jones had the 20-save shutout to help the Sharks reach the Conference Finals for the 4th time, first since 2011.

Sharks win series 4 games to 3.

Eastern Conference

#A2 Tampa Bay Lightning vs. #WC1 New York Islanders

Would Lightning strike twice in the 2016 playoffs?

GAME ONE: NEW YORK ISLANDERS 5 at TAMPA BAY 3 - April 27
With three first period goals, the Islanders got off to a fast start and took Game One. Oh and this game took place on the same night as Game Seven in the Sharks/Predators first-round series. What the hell, NHL? Couldn't you wait until Round One was done?

Jonathan Drouin scored his first ever playoff goal, along with Tampa goals from Tyler Johnson (twice), and Victor Hedman, for the Game Two win. Nikolay Kulemin scored for New York.

Lightning win series 4 games to 1

#M1 Washington Capitals vs. #M2 Pittsburgh Penguins

Oh, look, it's the match-up that has the hockey media creaming in their pants. Once again the Pittsburgh Crosbies face off against the Washington Ovechkins. Which player - I mean, which team - would be the victor in the series that the sports channels will try hardest to accommodate?

GAME ONE: PITTSBURGH 3 at WASHINGTON 4 (OT) - April 28
TJ Oshie, completing his hat trick, scored at 9:33 of the extra session to get the Caps the Game One win. Andre Burakovksy also scored for Washington. Ben Lovejoy, Evgeni Malkin, and Nick Bonino tallied for Pittsburgh.

GAME TWO: PITTSBURGH 2 at WASHINGTON 1 - April 30
Pittsburgh scored twice (Carl Hagelin, Eric Fehr) with a Caps goal sandwiched in between (Marcus Johansson). Fehr, who scored the game winner, scored against his former team.

GAME THREE: WASHINGTON 2 at PITTSBURGH 3 - May 2
Penguins rookie goalie Matt Murray made a career-high 47 saves as Pittsburgh wins again to get the series lead. Patric Hornqvist, Tom Kuhnhackl, and Carl Hagelin had the Penguins up 3-0 by the third period, where Washington attempted a rally with tallies by Alex Ovechkin and Justin Williams.

GAME FOUR: WASHINGTON 2 at PITTSBURGH 3 (OT)- May 4
Patric Hornqvist scored early in overtime to help his Penguins defeat the Capitals, giving Pittsburgh the 3-1 series lead. And Ovechkin and the Caps are on the brink!

GAME FIVE: PITTSBURGH 1 at WASHINGTON 3 - May 7
Ovechkin scored early on the power play, and T.J. Oshie and Justin Williams also scored for the Caps for the 3-1 victory. Washington will live to play another day. Chris Kunitz scored for Pittsburgh.

GAME SIX: WASHINGTON 3 at PITTSBURGH 4 (OT) - May 10
Pittsburgh eliminated Washington in dramatic fashion, in overtime (isn't that always the best way to eliminate a team and advance?). The Penguins had jumped out to a 3-0 lead with Phil Kessel (twice) and Carl Hagelin. But T.J. Oshie, Justin Williams, and John Carlson tied the game up for Washington. But overtime was the pits for the Caps, as Nick Bonino scored just 6:32 into the extra session, and the Penguins will happy-feet their way into the Conference Finals.

Penguins win series 4 games to 2.

Western Conference

#C2 St. Louis Blues vs. #P5 San Jose Sharks

GAME ONE: SAN JOSE 1 at ST. LOUIS 2 - May 15
Brian Elliott made 31 saves, David Backes and Jori Lehtera scored for St. Louis, and the Blues hung onto that lead 2-1 lead for a period and a half to win Game One. Tomas Hertl scored for the Sharks.

St. Louis is shut out for the first time in the 2016 playoffs and the series is tied.

GAME THREE: ST. LOUIS 0 at SAN JOSE 3 - May 19
And St. Louis is shut out again.

GAME FOUR: ST. LOUIS 6 at SAN JOSE 3 - May 21
It was time for the Blues to score some goals again. Troy Brouwer, Jori Lehtera, and twice Kyle Brodziak in the second period stoked St. Louis to a 4-0 lead going into the third, where Brouwer added another goal and Alex Pietrangelo got an empty-netter. The Sharks did get goals in third from Pavelski, Tierney, and Melker Karlsson but it was too little, too late. Jake Allen made 31 saves for his first playoff start for the Blues. With Robby Fabbri's two assists, now with 15 points, has the most points by a rookie in the playoffs since Brad Marchand in 2011. And that was the first time since 1986 the Blues won more than one game in the third round.

Sharks win series 4 games to 2.

Eastern Conference

#M2 Pittsburgh Penguins vs. #A2 Tampa Bay Lightning

GAME ONE: TAMPA BAY 3 at PITTSBURGH 1 - May 13
Tampa won the game but may have lost goalie Ben Bishop to injury. After making nine saves he got tangled up with an opposing player and twisted his leg and had to be carried off on a stretcher. That's never good. Alex Killorn, Ondrej Palat, and Jonathan Drouin scored for Tampa. Patric Hornqvist tallied for Pittsburgh. And relief goalie for Tampa, Andrei Vasilevskiy, made 25 saves, allowing that one Penguins goal.

GAME TWO: TAMPA BAY 2 at PITTSBURGH 3 (OT) - May 16
Sidney Crosby picked a good time to snap his 8-game goal drought. He scored just 40 seconds into overtime to win the game and even up the series for the Penguins. Matt Cullen and Phil Kessel also scored for Pittsburgh. Anton Stralman and Jonathan Drouin scored for Tampa.

GAME THREE: PITTSBURGH 4 at TAMPA BAY 2 - May 18

Ryan Callahan, Andrej Sustr, Jonathan Drouin, and Tyler Johnson, by the end of the second period, had given the Lightning the 4-0 lead. But disaster almost struck as they allowed Phil Kessel, Evgeni Malkin, and Chris Kunitz to nearly tie the game up in the third.

GAME FIVE: TAMPA BAY 4 at PITTSBURGH 3 (OT) - May 22
With mere minutes to go, Nikita Kucherov, with his second goal of the night, scored to tie the game for the Lightning. Then, just 53 seconds into overtime Tyler Johnson scored to win it for the Bolts, putting Pittsburgh on the brink.

Penguins win series 4 games to 3.

Round Four - Stanley Cup Finals

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. San Jose Sharks

This is familiar territory for Pittsburgh, but this is San Jose's first trip to the Finals. Both worked hard to get there, but who would work harder to lift that big Cup?

GAME ONE: SAN JOSE 2 at PITTSBURGH 3 - May 30
The first period belonged to Pittsburgh, where Bryan Rust and Conor Sheary scored. The second belonged to San Jose, where Tomas Hertl and Patrick Marleau scored. But with 2:33 left, Nick Bonino scored to give the Penguins the lead and eventually the Game One win.

GAME FOUR: PITTSBURGH 3 at SAN JOSE 1 - June 6
The Penguins take a commanding 3-1 lead in the Finals with a 3-1 win.

GAME FIVE: SAN JOSE 4 at PITTSBURGH 2 - June 9
Brent Burns, Logan Couture, Melker Karlsson, and Joe Pavelski with an empty-netter all scored to keep the Sharks alive. They had to survive the Penguins scoring twice in 22 seconds in the second period that had tied up the game, the goals from Evgeni Malkin and Carl Hagelin. That was impressive but Pittsburgh failed to win the Cup in front of their home fans.

GAME SIX: PITTSBURGH 3 at SAN JOSE 1 - June 12
Defensemen Brian Dumoulin started the scoring in the first, giving the Penguins the 1-0 lead. Later Crosby assisted Letang giving Pittsburgh another lead, 2-1, which proved insurmountable for the Sharks, who needed to score at least two in the third, but all they managed to do in the third was two shots. Patric Hornqvist scored the empty-netter, also assisted by Captain Crosby, who got the Conn Smythe. Pittsburgh wins the game and their fourth Cup, their first once since 2009.
