d12

The AD&D abbreviation for a twelve-sided die. It's a dodecahedron with faces labelled 1 - 12. 1d12 means "roll one twelve-sided die once", 3d12+3 means "roll three twelve-sided dice, add the results, and then add three to that", and so forth. Not used a whole lot compared with the other dice. The d8, d6, and d10 are much more popular.

D12 is also a hip hop/rap group. Their name means Dirty Dozen. D12 fans can be called Dirty Heads.

History:
Bizarre and Proof founded D12 in 1990. Soon after Eminem, Bugz, and Swifty. Bugz was shot in Belle Isle and run over. Kon Artis is a producer. Each member is known for their talents outside the group. Eminem was the first to split and make it big as a solo artist. His success and popularity definately draws attention to D12. Eminem started Shady Records in 1999 and D12 was the first group signed to the label. Their debut album, Devil's Night was release June 18, 2001 in the U.K. and June 19, 2001 in the U.S..
