A descriptive definition of the original inhabitants, aboriginal people of North America. While, it is the politically correct term, most Natives refer to themselves by their own tribal designations. Examples are the Dine or Navajo, the Ho-Chunk or Winnebago, and most popularly the Dakota, Lakota, or Nakota who are commonly referred to as the Sioux.
