SNAFU, a World War II slang term, means Situation Normal: All Fucked Up. This, and many other slang terms, were routed from the soldiers who were unfortunate enough to fight in Europe during the great war.

Also a highly addictive Intellivision game from back in the day. One or two players ran snake things around the screen, trying to box each other in like the later Tron light-bike games.

Acronym for "Situation Normal: All Fucked/Fouled Up." Generally describes an operation or mission in which the objective is nonexistent, not in the reported location, or where a mission is logistically impossible to complete. For example, an American Commander in Desert Storm ordering an attack on a hill located in San Diego, California, or ordering a raid on Saddam Hussein's secret stash of Tang.
