"Cunning linguist" is a play on words. Cunnilingus is the art of stimulating the vulva with the tongue, alternately referred to as cunnilingctus. I first heard this particular little pun in the Broadway show Cabaret. The host person is introducing the Cabaret girls, and the line is something like this:

HOST: Texas! (cymbal) Yes, Texas is from America . . . but she's a very cunning linguist!
