TiO2

Titanium dioxide is a white pigment used in paints, paper, rubber and plastics. It is also used in cosmetics, floor coverings, ceramics, printing inks and welding rods. Unfortunately, this compound is also used as a colour in the food industry, specifically Dentyne Gum.

Chemical used as the predominant white pigment due to it's high refractive index and lack of absorption of visible light. It is the whitest known pigment in color, opacity, stain resistance, and durability. It is non-toxic, so it isn't so bad that it is used in the food industry (there's probably more harmful chemicals in a Big Mac).
